We have some amazing partners who we work closely with to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people

Bedfordshire Open Door Partnerships

Partnerships

We have a wealth of strong relationships with other organisations across Bedfordshire. We are delighted to have been chosen as Charity of the Year by Bedford Girls School who have been keenly raising funds and awareness about our service all year. We also work with several schools to deliver on site counselling and also have a great partnership with Impakt Housing & Support Bedfordshire.

As part of our commitment to developing our services we have also teamed up with a number of local organisations to develop a range of wellbeing activities that can be accessed online or, when COVID-19 permits, in face to face groups. Follow our news page and social media for more information.

Charity of the year

Bedford Girls School

We were chosen by Bedford Girls School as their charity of the year for 2020/21:

“Central to a BGS education is ensuring our students understand the importance of being active members of the wider community, and throughout their school careers our students are involved in many outreach programmes as they develop the skills to help make a positive impact. This year has posed many challenges and hardships so it’s so important that we all look out for one another. Lockdown has impacted our wellbeing massively and the mental health of all people, especially young people, who, have been separated from many of their support networks, activities and social outlets. We therefore feel it is important to support a charity to help support other young people. There are few local charities that support young people’s mental health and having investigated the work they all do we were very impressed by the work Bedford Open Door does so we chose to support them. I am so excited that BGS has the chance to advocate for Bedford Open Door this year.”

Team Programme

“Bedfordshire Open Door makes a huge difference in helping young people achieve their goals. As Prince’s Trust Team Leader my role is to help facilitate that change, without the support from organisations like BOD it wouldn’t happen. I see a vast majority of young people who struggle to overcome barriers in their lives, whether that is educational or psychological. They need more than just a college course to help them change. The team at BOD have contributed to my students successes by offering community projects, group discussions and counselling. I hope the partnership continues to flourish.”

Mark, Princes Trust Team Leader

Youth Voices

”Youth Voices are proud to be working with Bedfordshire Open Door, where Covid-19 has radically altered the way outreach and detached youth work is able to work with young people, having the support and guidance from the Bedfordshire Open Door team has been instrumental in the way our delivery has been able to adapt and respond. The Youth Voices Connect podcast team (a platform for young people by young people) were thrilled to be commissioned by BOD to record a discussion on the impact of mental health services and provision in Bedford.”

Vanessa, Youth Voices

Laughter and Life

“Laughter is good for mental health and physical wellbeing. The sessions start with gentle warm-up techniques and the laughter exercises are interspersed with breathing exercises and gentle movement. We round off the session with a guided meditation and relaxation exercise.”

Cheryl, Laughter & Life founder

Grow for Humans

“Mindfulness meditation is the practice of paying attention in the present moment. You will find that there are many benefits of exercising your concentration levels, which have a direct effect on your levels of well-being and happiness.”

Matthew, Mindfulness Teacher, Mentor and Bedfordshire Open Door Counsellor

Skillz Rope

“Exercise and physical activity is amazing for our mental health and wellbeing! The movement really increases our positive thoughts, gives us some order to our day and thinking. It’s been great to provide Skipping ropes to Bedfordshire Open Door, and increase activity for their young people!”
