Bedfordshire Open Door was proud to be a part of the inspirational Youth Conference led by the Office of the Police Crime Commissioner and VERU (Violence and Exploitation Reduction Unit). The aim of the event was to reach youths who would like to be part of the solution and to help support those at risk of offending. It was a very powerful day with presentations and workshops focusing on a range of subjects including county lines: knife crime and consequences; bullying; how to help someone who is in a gang; exploitation and grooming; domestic violence; understanding your rights: stop and search and an excellent positive session on reaching potential and aiming for success.
Festus Akinbusoye, Police Crime Commissioner said “I think we can say we have succeeded in helping YP understand the impact their choices can have on the rest of their life whilst educating and guiding them on their life journeys”.
We work in partnership with the VERU and the OPCC fund our High Needs Specialist Counsellor who works with victims of crime and exploitation. If you would like to know more about getting support around any of these issues please visit this website
